In November 2014 a group of students took part in the school’s first World Challenge Expedition to Nepal.
During the Summer of 2017 13 Year 11 students and 2 staff members will be travelling to Malaysia to take part in our second World Challenge expedition.
The group will spend a total of 3 weeks in Malaysia - trekking in the jungle, sight-seeing in Kuala Lumpur and taking part in voluntary work in the community in a local Primary School.
The 13 Challengers are becoming more excited and nervous as each day passes. They’ve done a brilliant job of fundraising the £3425 despite having to cope with the demands of being in Year 11. Many have taken on part-time jobs to help fund their expedition and most are well over the £2000 mark.
During the last school holiday they packed bags in Booths, Ulverston with some of them raising over £200 during the weekend.
The support of the local community has been key in helping them to raise much needed funds for their expedition and the team are extremely grateful for the kind donations they have received.
The World Challenge expeditions are a fantastic programme for our students to be involved in. They will develop leadership, teamwork and decision-making skills while learning how to travel. They will engage in other cultures in remote environments, changing the way they think about the world and their place in it.
