| Maths Extension Classes for Primary Schools
The aim of these classes is to provide extension work in mathematics for gifted and talented pupils in the surrounding primary schools.
Whilst the content of the classes will remain flexible, it is hoped to spend approximately half the time tackling an investigation;
spotting patterns, predicting results, looking at generalisations, forming equations etc.
The remaining time will be shared between solving puzzles and playing maths games; and time spent looking at efficient methods to solve some tricky calculations. There is no intention to use these classes as additional preparation for KS2 tests.
All materials will be provided. The aim is for the pupils to have fun experimenting with perhaps an unfamiliar approach to maths, at an unapologetically fast pace. Much of the work will be oral and
written work will take the form of rough workings, often using white boards.
