The Learning Support Department
currently consists of the Head of Department (Senco), one
full-time and one part-time dyslexia teachers, five full-time
and two part-time teaching assistants.
The Senco’s office and the dyslexia
base are located in Ashburner House, the Victorian mansion at
the top of the site. The school is developing and upgrading
resources to extend the use of computers as a tool to diagnose
and teach pupils with learning difficulties.
We are hoping to appoint a talented,
enthusiastic and committed teaching assistant who will have the
skills and ability to add to this successful team.
The Learning Support Department works
as a strong team, mainly supporting pupils in class, but
withdrawing them for specific learning clinics.
SEN pupils take a full part in all
school activities both within the curriculum and
extra-curricular programme. Their progress is closely monitored
and reviewed using IEPs, Learning Focus Record sheets and
regular departmental meetings.
