We also run a twilight GCSE music class for our more able musicians, allowing them to sit the examination ahead of their other option choices.
Students in Year 10 are studying GCSE Music following the EDUQAS Music Curriculum studying the three elements; performing, composing and appraising.
The current Year 11 course follows the Edexcel Specification and focuses on developing skills in performance, composition, listening and analysis. Students will be expected to perform both on their own and as part of a group and will compose music in a variety of styles; these elements of the course will be completed under controlled assessment conditions.
Students will also study twelve set works from the 18th century to the present day and will then sit a final listening paper in the summer of Year 11.
