Gravity Racer
Year 10 pupils have spent the last nine months designing and building a gravity racer. On its first outing at Kirby Lonsdale Motor Club's Summer Show at Heaves Hotel (July 2007) the team took first prize for fastest car in their class.
The team are now redesigning the car to meet the specification of Formula Gravity, a set of rules formulated especially for schools to take part in downhill gravity racing.
Electric Car
The Mark IV Greenpower Racer is now nearing completion ready for the 2008 Greenpower Challenge. The car, powered by two 12v batteries has been designed to be lightweight and aerodynamically efficient. Currently, year 11 and year 9 students are working on the car. Year 7's are now being recruited for driver training.
Easter Biscuit Competition
This Easter saw a change from our usual house cake competition. We decided to team up with the Rwanda Easter fair and get students to design and make a batch of biscuits which could be sold at the Easter Fair the following day in aid of the Rwanda appeal. A total of 24 students entered and results were of a high standard. Prizes were awarded to first and second place in years 7, 8 and 9.
