We make English fun, appropriate and accessible to all pupils.  It is our strong belief that literacy is key to learning and to life and it is therefore at the heart of all our teaching and learning.  We study a wide range of non-fiction and fiction texts, to inspire a life long love of reading and to encourage creativity of thought. Children are encouraged to use their reading skills to assess how professional writers use language and to apply these techniques to their own writing.  Pupils of all ages have the opportunity to study and respond to Shakespeare in a variety of innovative ways including: Royal Shakespeare Company rehersal room drama techniques, media adaptations and independent research projects. At GCSE our students have a record of success in both English and Literature and are fully equipped to be able to take their studies further.
