BAE Higher Apprenticeship Visit

Throughout the school year we welcome apprentices and employees from from local firms, including BAE, Siemens and GSK, who come to meet with students to give them an insight in to their company and their working life.

Three higher apprentices from BAE visited Year 10 AVA students last year to talk about the advantages of taking an apprenticeship.

Former Dowdalians Indea Flood and Matthew Payne, and ex-St Bernard’s student Natasha McFarlene met with Year 10 AVA students to give them an insight in to the path they chose after leaving school which led to their higher apprentice positions.

As part of their assignments the apprentices must complete a number of tasks including work in the community, visiting schools to share their experiences.

These talks are an integral part of the school programme in helping students with their future choices.
